José Martí: una biografía

1893. With a friend's family, near Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
In Sandy Hill, near Saratoga Springs, in upstate New York, Martí at the grounds of the summer residence of the Venezuelan painter Juan Peoli. Martí sits next to Antonia Alfonso, Peoli's wife. Beside her is her daughter Laura, and, standing, Juan Peoli Jr. Behind them are the nurse of Laura's four children, all of whom appear in the photograph, Nené Peoli, Carmita Mantilla y Miyares and the children's father Daniel Guiteras.
